Santa Barbara - Upper East Home

The historic Upper East of Santa Barbara was built in the area around  Mission Santa Barbara and expands to Micheltorena Street on one side and State Street on the other.  Being one of the oldest neighborhoods in Santa Barbara, it is also one of the best preserved.  The homes built here from the 1880's on were generally large, with no expense spared in the design or construction.  Many architectural styles were in a favor over the decades and most of these properties have survived into the present day.  Many were built as seasonal homes for the very wealthy of the time and this trend really took off when the railroad finally connected Santa Barbara to the rest of the nation, in the early 1900's, and provided easy access to our area.  Every year there are tours arranged for a variety of these homes and they are always well attended.  Home to one of the highest scoring elementary schools in the Santa Barbara district, Roosevelt School.  Check 93105 for home/condo values, home sales graph and social/economic data.
